Hi. My name is Brittany Loch. Since April 2018 I have been suffering from extreme right side facial pain beginnin after a couple surgeries, and was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. An incurable excruciating facial pain condition. Since, I have been given a large amount of medication regimens as the first stage of treatment - all of which have failed to produce worthwhile relief. So my doctors began treating me with surgical options - from the less invasive nerve blocks (though not really a true surgery), to much more invasive treatments such as a spinal cord stimulator placement (which then needed a revision after the lead moved in my face, was then placed incorrectly immediately below my eye and then required a 4th surgery for removal), to a Microvascular Decompression (MVD) brain surgery, many nerve ablations… all failed to provide decent relief from my pain, until one ablation finally got me enough relief that I finally managed to move back out from my mom and step dads home (which I am eternally grateful for having them) over the following 1.5yrs, the pain began increasing yet again AND I began experiencing other severe health issues that seemed unrelated but connected in the sense of feeding the pain. Finally a Rhumatologist found I also have an autoimmune disease known as Mixed Connective Tissue Disease. This has caused many other quite serious symptoms, some invisible and others can be seen, like the skin on my hands and feet splitting and cracking badly and struggle to heal - now require the use of tons of skin moisturizers covered with gloves and socks to help seal it in. Which only help so much.. BUT even with that new diagnosis, there were symptoms I was experiencing that still didn't truly have an answer yet… Until late last year I was blessed to end up in the care of a truly amazing and caring pain doctor where I live, and he finally gave me an answer to explain everything - Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, which is the cause for the Trigeminal Neuralgia, and the answer to attack of severe widespread burning pain throughout my body, which actually cause my skin to turn bright red and noticeably hot, I try to use an infrared thermometer on the burning areas of skin during attacks, and so far the hottest my skin has gotten to during an attack was 108 degrees fahrenheit, while the areas of normal skin color that can be just inches away, are sitting at a normal 98 degrees.
