Latest update as of Aug 25, 2024

  • Quick update

It's been a moment since the last update. There's been some challenges & an awesome win.
First, the win. Her scans came back & the news is wonderful. She is reacting to her meds combo so well her locations have gone "inactive"! This is wonderful news. It gives us great hope. She's not a fan of talking about her stage 4 diagnosis. However, because it is stage 4 mets to bones, "inactive" is the best news we could ever hope for. We will continue this med combo for as long as it works for her.
Now the challenges, at the beginning of the month we had a quick repair on our car & than a small hurricane. We thought we recovered well. Unfortunately the car is not. A wonderful friend gifted us tickets to see a comedian down in Tampa with dinner, drinks & a place to stay. All we had to do was get there. Unfortunately we made it an hour out, coasted into a dealership (after a challenge there) & that's where the car sits now. A known engine issue that was not known to us when we bought it 6 months ago. A car rental & back home for us. One step forward, two steps back. Are we dancing yet?

About this fundraiser

Hello all

As most of you know, in April 2024, days after her 39th birthday, Crystal was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. We are a full three months in to her treatment. She is such a fighter. Currently, she is still working 32 hours a week. Her job has given her an extra day off during the week as an extra doctor / rest kind of day. This is helpful so as to not disrupt her current insurance benefits. However, this is not a long term solution for her. As the symptoms of the fight are taking over, she finds herself increasingly exhausted, often in pain, with menopause symptoms in full swing. She really is being so amazing about this, but needs the rest.

It is time that we do need to ask for help. She will soon need to transition from her physically demanding full time job to focusing more directly on her health. She does qualify for disability, but that takes time and she can't still be working while in the application process. Co-pays, medical expenses, travel and such are also taking there toll on us and our new (to us) car.

We are asking for donations to help with:
*loss of income as she transitions from a working life to non working life.
*co-pays and medical expenses
*travel and car expenses

We truly are so very grateful for all the love, support and assistance that we have already received in abundance these last few months. We know every one is struggling right now, so anything that you can give is so very appreciated. If you can not donate, please share. Thank you. Crystal & Trish
