Hi! The medical team working with David will be doing a procedure today to drain the fluid from around his heart. Without this procedure he does not have a good chance of survival. They will stay in touch and I’ll keep you updated. Love to you for your good care of David.

Hi! Just received update from one on David’s drs. They wanted authorization to insert another tube in the kidney area. He only has one kidney and is not producing urine. They will be doing temporary dialysis. His heart is working better with the removal of a lot of fluid. He is fortunate to be at the VA.

12/23/2025 update

Hi Lita, had a long conversation with one of David’s drs today. Situation is very grim. The medical team doesn’t have many options.

His heart, lungs, kidney function, and blood pressure are not stable. He is not eating and may have a tube inserted into his nose. They have to consider intubating him for oxygen again. They are concerned that a necessary procedure may cause his heart to stop. To resuscitate him will probably break ribs or other damage. They are committed to helping him but the odds are not good. David is unable to stay awake for the drs to talk to him. He signed a document in the past asking that all efforts be

made to save him. Unfortunately his body

may not be able to continue.

The VA’s philosophy is to provide life saving procedures. The team may have to decide when their efforts are not working. I understand that.
