About this fundraiser

Hi!! My name is Craig and I am an insulin dependent diabetic. I recently went through a horrible near-death experience battling a mysterious infection that started in my elbow and didn't stop until it almost killed me. I went to the ER thinking I had a kidney stone and a messed up elbow. After tests were completed, Iwas diagnosed with MERSA, staph, hypovolemic shock and sepsis. This life threatening, excruciating painful infection had traveled into my lungs, heart, spleen and kidneys. I was put on the hospital ‘s “Death List” and reminded by my doctor almost every night for the next six weeks that I would probably not live thru the night. Depressed and alone, I prepared myself to die. Many nights I cried myself to sleep. The infectious disease team tried many combinations of IV antibiotics. Nothing seemed to be working. Then they hit on two antibiotics that started killing off that wicked beast.  They happened to be two of the most expensive antibiotics on the market. At $26,000 per dose and twice a day for six weeks, the cost was exorbitant- almost $800,000!!!  That didn't even include other medications, tests, labs, room, etc. To date my bill is over a million dollars and I don't even have a job!                  I am home still dealing with pain issues along with some brain qand heart damage. I am currently on 15 different medications. It will be a long healing process.  This was most definitely  a life altering and very scary experience, but I am so thankful to be alive. I must now face this mountain of debt but I don't even know where to begin.  I am asking for anyone who can, to please help me and donate whatever you can - no amount is too small.
