Hey friends, this is a post I never imagined I’d have to write, and it’s very difficult for this person to ask for help. As many of you know, I has a close elderly family member who is currently navigating a painful divorce due to abuse.

The situation is incredibly complex: she has lost most of her vision to macular degeneration and has very limited resources. After 18 months of separation, she finally has a court date. However, she just hit a devastating wall. To continue her representation and protect her home and alimony, her attorney requires $20,000 within the next week.

The abuser has been provided with a court-appointed attorney and a guardian ad litem, but despite our best efforts, we have been unable to find free or low-cost legal aid for the victim. She is on a fixed income, and our family simply cannot cover these costs alone. Without a lawyer, she risks losing everything.
