About this fundraiser

Twenty-year-old ELIJAH TOW, a son, brother, uncle, hula buddy, and friend, faced unexpected health complications and mounting medical expenses stemming from his recent lupus diagnosis. Raah was diagnosed with lupus in September 2024. For the past year, he had been managing his condition well with medication; however, everything changed on Wednesday, September 10th. Raah was rushed to the emergency room with severe chest pain and difficulty breathing. After numerous tests, doctors discovered his mitral valve was failing. He urgently needed open-heart surgery to repair the valve. Despite Raah's remarkable strength and resilience,

Currently, ELIJAH is fighting for his life in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CCU) at Queen's Medical Center. His heart is so weak that doctors have to place him on an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine to maintain blood circulation while he works to stabilize. Doctors recommended transfer to UCSF in San Francisco for advanced cardiac care and surgery.

This journey has been emotionally and financially taxing. Even with health insurance, the costs of surgery, intensive care unit (ICU) treatment, and rehabilitation will be enormous. Furthermore, ELIJAH will be flying from Oahu to San Francisco to accompany him through treatment and recovery, placing additional financial strain on him.
We are asking for your help to support ELIJAH TOW through this battle—covering his medical bills, extended hospital stays, and travel and lodging expenses so his family can be with him every step of the way.
