Hi my name is Doris. About 2 weeks ago we had a what is being call very strong straight line wind or possible tornado hit us. This storm took out our power pole with our meters for our mobile home and well pump leaving us without power and water. It also riped all the skirting off and pulled off the underbelly and insulation from the bottom of the mobile home. Our roof and fence were damaged and our gazebo was completely destroyed. We spent 5 days in a hotel with our two pets. We were told by Duke Energy that the pole and all the electric boxes and wiring was our responsibility. The total cost for all the repairs is around $20,000.00. We contacted our insurance company. Once the “Storm Agent” came out we found out what little good it was to pay for insurance. The insurance agent told us the electrical repairs was not covered because it wasn't actually attached to the home so it's our responsibility to fix it. After the insurance decided what they would pay after their adjustment and our $1000.00 deductible, we received a check for $5,345.00. The electrical repairs cost almost $12,000.00. So with the check from insurance we still had to barrow money, that we have to pay back, to get our electricity and water back on. We patched up the skirting but still have to have all the insulation and underbelly replaced. On top of all this I found out I have to have surgery on my back and my husband was in the emergency room for chest pains. He has to have a heart scan and echo cardiogram to see what's going on with his heart. We are not one's to ask for help but, we have put everything we had in make this our home and have nothing left. So, this is me asking for help. Every dollar that is donated is one dollar closer to getting our home repaired and paying back the money we borrowed for the electrical repairs.
