The one word that nobody wants to hear: cancer. This is the reality that hit the Townsen family in late July. Their beloved matriarch, Emily, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Emily is a warrior and a fighter. She has stood strong in her faith since the day she received the news of her diagnosis. Emily is an embodiment of resilience, strength, and hope. Her smile is contagious, and her faith is evident in all she does.
Family Life:
Emily has been married to her husband, Jamie for 22 years. They have two sons, Josh and Edward, who have been the center of Emily’s world since the day they were born. Emily has supported her children in their education, their hobbies, and all their extracurricular activities. She has great memories with her children, filled with laughter and love.
Work Life:
Emily has been a pillar in the Lubbock community for many years. She began her career in cosmetology, focusing on ways she could make others feel beautiful and loved. Later in life, as she children continued to grow, she became an educator in the Christian school community. Throughout her career, she has touched on the lives of many children and families through education. Her intentionality and ability to make every child feel special was something unprecedented. Emily left a significant impact on each family whom she has the pleasure of connecting with. As life transitioned, Emily shifted her career, most recently, and currently works for Nesloney Homes, LLC. She enjoys helping families in a different capacity, by helping them build their dream home.
Life’s Delights:
Emily is a beacon of light for those she is around. She is an inspiration and encourager. Even as she has fought this battle with cancer, her faith has been at the center of each day. Emily is reminded of what the Lord says in 1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” This scripture has brought her hope and reassurance during this difficult season.
