About this fundraiser

Evelyne Pierre is a mother, a sister, a friend, and believer. She is a proud American, having been naturalized as a US Citizen after immigrating from Haiti. She has two adult children, Caleb and Mireya Ductant. They are her entire world. She cared deeply for their futures, and both have pursued graduate degrees after graduating from college. Evelyne loves Jesus, and is rooted in her faith in Him.

In February 2024, she was working in her longtime career as a health care worker at a nursing home in Atlanta. While at work, she suffered a massive stroke. Caleb drove to her work to pick her up. She was still responsive at that point, but quickly became unresponsive in the car. Caleb quickly decided to take her to the ER, where she was airlifted to Grady Hospital.

Evelyne received excellent care at Grady, but unfortunately, the damage to her brain was too severe. Evelyne has been in and out of different long term care facilities and hospice facilities since the initial stroke. Her daughter, Mireya, is a nurse, and has provided wonderful bedside care for her mother since February. She has not let her mother suffer in silence. Mireya has been a constant advocate for her mother.

After a 7 month long fight, Evelyne’s body started to crash in August 2024. She is currently in hospice in Atlanta nearing the end of her earthly journey. Caleb and Mireya are 27 and 29 years old, and their mother is 57. This was completely unexpected, and Evelyne’s kids would like to have a funeral for their mother that celebrates the beautiful life their mother lived.

Any amount is appreciated. Anything donated in excess of the funeral expenses will go to Caleb and Mireya to help pay for their mother’s hospital bills and start moving forward.
