Evelyn Doris Komes, 81, of Crystal Lake, Illinois passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023. She was born on August 29, 1941 in Fall River, Massachusetts to the late Edward and Irene Bernier. She married the late Joseph Komes on June 6, 1959.

Evelyn loved to spend her free time playing cards and other games. She found enjoyment in music and live bands, having thrown many of her Jukebox Parties. Above all, she loved her family and the many gatherings that brought everyone together.

Evelyn is survived by her children Joe (Gina) Komes, Jeff Komes, Jamie Komes, Jay (Cindy) Komes, and Julie (Dan) Komes-McGarry; her grandchildren Alex, Nick, Brandon, Kelly, Cameron, Alicia, and Jenna; her great-grandchildren Keller, Avery, Zander, and Harrison; and her sisters Eileen and Shirley. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Scott Komes, and her siblings Carol, Mike, and Russ.

A visitation for Evelyn will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, Illinois 60014. A funeral service will occur Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park, 8012 Ridgefield Rd, Crystal Lake, Illinois 60012.

Evelyn expressed her dislike for flowers, as they reminded her of funerals. In lieu of flowers, her request is to make donations to her family to assist in these unexpected expenses.
