Zahra is needing a Femoral Head Ostectomy, which is a surgical procedure where the head and neck of the femur (thigh bone) are removed to alleviate pain associated with hip joint problems, but in her case her femoral head was shattered as a puppy (I was unaware). She was adopted by a friend which took her to the vet due to limping and it was confirmed that she had a shattered femoral head. I then assumed care for her due to an unforeseen circumstances that my friend couldn’t keep her anymore. Zahra requires surgery, the bone is now dying and has to be removed before it spreads. I hadn’t shared that I lost my job for a few months and recently just started working, but the surgery is costly. Her surgery is scheduled for August 20th. I will also be taking an unpaid week off of work since I have no PTO accrued yet to stay with her and monitor her as she recovers. Any help is truly appreciated!
