Summary of the latest update from SpiritHawk:

Two weeks since this disaster zone came to our mountain top. Last night power was restored to the cabin. Now begins the next phase of survival and recovery here.

We have well water again, the ability to cook inside, to take inventory of our food and needs, to clean after continued working on the land, and to have others be able to come for any prayers and Ceremony needed. The fight for survival has taken a small step forward and Creator we are grateful as Servants to Rhe People.....

Now, next step....to get transportation back, as the Vehicle was crushed in the storm.

Everyone's help is not only appreciated, but a true blessing, for this household and land... Cedar Bear Ridge....

About this fundraiser

Hurricane Helene decimated Spirithawk and Nape’s property, Cedar Bear Ridge. It destroyed their only vehicle and caused immense damage to the property. They are currently fighting for survival, cut off from help and without power. But once the recovery process begins they will need financial support to remove the trees blocking access to and from the property and begin restoration of their lives.

Any and all support is so deeply appreciated. These are wonderful humans, stewards of the land, their cultures, and keepers and protectors of their traditions. Thank you.

His words:

At 6:05am Friday morning, after heavy rain ( at that time I had measured 15" in 24 hrs), the super winds preceding Helene picked up and had been blowing for about three hours. Large cracking sound, looked outside and one of the largest and tallest trees on the land had come down and crushed the only vehicle we had AND the solar trailer we could use to survive!!

That was the best part as it got worse from there.....Tons of heavy rain (another 10" in a few hours) and winds picked up to between 45-60mph, power went out, and then came the continuous gusts exceeding 80mph. Cracking, crashing, praying, and huddling with cats and Makwa.....come daylight, and extended until about 2pm, the high winds and super gusts continued, we stayed inside the cabin, continued praying and offering asema, more crashes and booms.....
When I ventured out the door a little after 2pm yesterday, I came to see a scene like an apocalypse....we lost over 90% of the trees, laying, down and standing splintered, GONE!!!! No Power, no reliable communication, no water, no fridge and freezer keeping food, destroyed all transportation and our trailer....and in just one section of the driveway/trail up here to the Cabin, over 45 trees down on the access, BIG TREES!
