We are a family of eight in urgent need of assistance. We have faced a series of unfortunate events that have left us in a difficult situation. My husband suffered a severe back injury, which led to him resigning from his job and jeopardizing his future career in law enforcement. He has applied for disability, but we are still awaiting a response. I made the tough decision to leave my ultrasound job in search of better opportunities out of state, only to be let down by a family member at the last minute, leaving us stranded with our children and animals. Because of this last minute decision we were forced to move into a rental home where the landlord neglected to repair the AC for over two months, exposing us to unbearable triple digit temperatures. Despite seeking help from tenant advocates and legal aid, we lost our eviction case and were forced out of our home.

To add to our challenges, we have now lost our only means of transportation. My husband is scheduled to start a new job on Tuesday because we no longer can wait on disability to be approved but without a vehicle, he will not be able to provide for our family and I can continue searching for a job. We are reaching out for any donations to help us purchase our vehicle back and begin rebuilding our lives. We were able to retrieve our children’s belongings from our suburban. As we began to sift through their belongings the realization hit hard. This wasn’t merely about material items; it was about identity and stability for our children. The suburban represented more than just transportation, it symbolized security and togetherness. Now, standing amidst these scattered remnants, I understood that reclaiming their belongings also meant confronting the reality that our vehicle and perhaps even our sense of normalcy might never return.
