Hello, my name is R. Shankar my friends also call me Alee, and I’m humbly reaching out to ask for your support during a very difficult time.

I am currently in India, where I traveled to attend my uncle’s funeral. Unfortunately, during this already emotional trip, I fell seriously ill and was diagnosed with pneumonia. I’ve been admitted to a local hospital, and now I urgently need funds to cover my medical expenses and to return home to Boston.

The treatment costs are overwhelming, and without immediate payment, I won’t be able to get discharged. I need $550 for essential medications and an additional $150 for hospital-related miscellaneous expenses. The longer I stay here under observation, the higher the bills grow—making this an extremely urgent situation.

I’ve faced many hardships throughout my life. I was born and raised in the foster care system, which taught me resilience but also meant I’ve had to navigate life without a safety net. I now work as an assistant at a small publication house in Boston, doing my best to live a stable, honest life. But this sudden medical emergency has knocked me down at a time when I was already living paycheck to paycheck.
