Hello, my name is Bailey, and this isn’t something I ever thought I’d have to do — but I need your help to get back on my feet and secure a safe, stable place to live.
Right before Christmas, I suddenly lost my housing and have been living out of my minivan with my cat. I had been paying rent consistently, but ongoing issues with my cat led to unexpected displacement. With nowhere else to go, I packed up my essentials, a propane heater, and Cleo and I tried to make it work from my vehicle.
Thankfully, a kind and generous person from the community noticed this struggle and temporarily opened their home to help me and my cat stay housed, and I am so grateful for that. Unfortunately this person is moving at the end of January, and I have less than 30 days to secure something affordable and long-term on my own — ideally between $800–$1000 per month — before I risk being back on the street.
I work full time, but my current salary is not sufficient, even with this month of free housing, to save up what I need in such a short time. Between covering gas, food, car insurance, storage, cell phone and basic needs, it is almost impossible to set aside for move-in expenses and a pet deposit in a few weeks, which totaling at $2,000 exceeds my take home for an entire month, and there is only four weeks to move.
This fundraiser will help cover:
- First month’s rent and deposit
- Pet deposit
- Essential moving costs for transitioning from my van into permanent housing
Having stable housing again means everything to me — safety, stability, and the chance to rebuild. My biggest fear is ending up in my van, but I’m determined to keep going and create a better, stable environment for myself and my companion animal.
Any donation, no matter the size, will make a direct and meaningful impact. Even sharing this campaign helps more than you know. Thank you for taking the time to read, support, and share my story.
With gratitude,
Bailey & Cleo
