  • Friends offer to Give Cornbread a ride to Las Vegas!

Previously I've shared that Cornbread would need to arrive in Los Angeles from Indiana by USDA-approved Groud Transport Services. Those services include the bulk of the cost and must be scheduled in advance with a health certificate for travel.

After sharing the fundraiser and a few messages to family, a beautiful woman I met via text message exchange in 2022 listened to my challenge and offered to help make calls to find a foster or rehome for Cornbread. She would've offered to foster herself but is currently at capacity with a half dozen pets.

A few days later my neighbor called back to offer to get Cornbread to LA since she and her husband have a few days to plan a road trip. Because of their kindness, I am dedicating the funds raised towards their travel expenses. How many people do you know who would be that kind to justify a road trip of 34 hours and over 2,000 for a non-related person?

Now I do, please help me celebrate this woman of God by raising a few more dollars for fuel, hotel, and food expenses for human and pet travelers.

About this fundraiser

Dear Givers, friends and loved ones,

My fur child is out of reach and I need her home.

I decided to elevate my efforts to raise money to bring our loving dog home from a temporary living situation in Indiana. Cornbread was brought there to enjoy the open fields and country environment during my year long stay connecting with family and friends. Cornbread's breed cannot fly cargo and with the emergent return to Los Angeles and cost of Ground transport her move would come at a later date. Rehoming has been difficult, shelters across America are over capacity and her size and age hasn't been easy to foster or adopt to another family. We are glad to make an effort to bring her home with us!

The money raised is to pay Prescious Pet Transport.com for Certified Door to Door Transport, Health Certification and her belongings for 2,020 miles. The estimate is just under $1600.00, I included the request for more to cover any fees, vet costs and changes to the quote. I am hoping to raise enough money to schedule the transport by the first of September if not sooner.

Cornbread was rescued and adopted from a Los Angeles, California high kill shelter in 2022 in efforts to bring an emotional support pet home since our family suffered depression after we lost our Mother & Grandmother in a tragic single car accident, then experienced several more losses through COVID and Family separation. My nephew Jeremiah, pictured playing at a skate park with Cornbread suffered a severed spinal injury in the single car accident which we lost our Mother, his GMA and Great-Grandma. He survived and recovered, brought great joy to us. I want to let you know Cornbread became the perfect companion we all needed.

Even though many people are going through so much in their own lives, I'm hoping a little help from everyone can go along way. Cornbread was returned to the L.A. shelter by 3 families before she was 10 months old prior to us adopting her. She suffers from separation anxiety just like we do. I can't imagine how she feels being away from us even though she's in good care now. My roommates and neighbors tell us she isn't the same dog without us around. The family she's staying with now works during the day where she's crated until they are home. We are all experiencing financial hardship, I am working to earn extra money in the side to pay for the Ground Transport as soon as possible and before Jeremaih returns to school for the fall in September.

We would be extremely grateful to receive a blessing to make our family complete. If this effort does not work, I have to consider sheltering Cornbread as her current caretakers are nearing expiration of their hospitality to our pet. I thank everyone involved in sharing this message.

I have created flyer to offer services to my neighbors, drive, delivering food and groceries when I have free time, and starting cleaning and organizing services for those in need. I've saved $200 so far and certain that we can make this happen.

Enjoy the photos of Cornbread and I will update the community as often as possible! I am including as much info to show the authenticity of this situation.
