I never thought I would be using this platform to ask for help, but here I am. I recently relocated back to Maryland to return to the basement apartment I first moved into in 2015 in Beltsville. My friend was in need, recovering from a stroke, and I thought I was doing the right thing by stepping in to help him while also giving myself the chance to return to the quiet and peace of the Maryland suburbs and get away from the noise of DC.

Unfortunately, that decision has left me displaced. The person I trusted took advantage of my kindness, and what began as an effort to help has turned into a painful experience that now involves pending litigation. Right now, I am without stable housing and trying to hold myself together while covering unexpected legal costs and basic needs.

I am asking for help to cover:

• Short-term housing and essentials so I can get off my friend’s studio apartment floor
• Food and personal care items to maintain my well-being during this transition
• Legal fees and costs tied to addressing the situation that led to my displacement

Every donation, no matter the size, will bring me closer to stability and help me rebuild the foundation I need to move forward with strength.
