Junior, or Mr Man, is the best and sweetest boy whom I love and adore so much more than I ever expected to. He was originally Mom's dog, until she lost her own long battle with Congestive Heart Failure in March and I was faced with making the decision to remove her from life support. Since then he has been under my guardianship, and he quickly made himself at home in the house and my heart. Sadly, he is now in urgent need of veterinary care, which I can't afford and I don't qualify for CareCredit or similar. On Friday 8/30/24, after a few days of his appetite changing and continuing to decrease, and him becoming less himself and clearly more miserable, I took him to Columbia River Veterinary Specialists in Vancouver WA. The lovely and compassionate staff not only did an emergency exam, but waived the $200 fee, which was a blessing. We left with a recommendation  that x-rays and blood work be done to diagnose the problem, and an estimate of the cost, just under $1,600.

It's most likely heart failure, which has caused him to develop a frequent cough, as well as water retention. My poor guy has become so swollen in all legs/paws and abdomen, that it's increasingly more difficult for him to get around. Now he appears to also be leaking fluid through his skin, and probably needs to have it drained and be put on Furosemide or another diuretic. 

With limited options and time, I'm reaching out to the community to ask for help covering the costs of these unexpected but necessary services.
