About this fundraiser

My name is James. I’ve lived in the United States my entire life. I worked hard, served in the military, and always tried to be there for others. Today, I’m asking for help so I can do something deeply important to me: reunite with my fiancée and family and build a stable future together.

I am retired and live on a fixed income of about $1,100 per month. Unfortunately, that amount is no longer enough to cover rent and basic living expenses in the U.S. I’ve cut costs, explored assistance programs, and done everything I can—but continuing to live here is simply no longer sustainable.

Over the past year, I’ve built a loving relationship with my fiancée in the Philippines. Through close friends who are like family to me, I found not only love but a true support system. We’ve been together for nearly a year, and being separated by distance has been incredibly hard. My goal is not luxury or comfort—it’s to be with the people I love and live with stability, dignity, and peace.

Relocating to the Philippines would allow my retirement income to support a modest life and make it possible for me to finally be reunited with my fiancée and extended family. This move means the chance to belong, to be supported, and to no longer face life alone.

I am selling nearly all of my possessions to pay off debts and contribute as much as I can toward this move. Even so, there are unavoidable upfront expenses required to relocate legally, safely, and responsibly, and I cannot cover them on my own.

What your support will help cover:

Cash advance debt: $1,500

Bank debt: $300

Credit cards: $1,500

Visa costs: $1,460

Required bank savings (proof of ability to provide): $5,000

Plane ticket: ~$1,400

Visa renewal fees (first year): $500

Rent deposit/down payment: $400

Initial living and setup costs (utilities, food, basic furnishings): $250

The visa-required bank savings will also serve as an emergency fund, ensuring I can support myself responsibly and never place a burden on my fiancée or family.

Every donation—no matter the amount—brings me closer to being reunited with the people I love and starting this next chapter together. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as much.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Your kindness, support, and compassion truly mean more than words can express.

With heartfelt gratitude,
James
