Jim’s Journey – Standing Strong in the Fight of His Life
Hi, my name is Katie, and I’m writing this for my dad… a man I am still learning, loving, and fighting for every single day.
My dad has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. The words alone don’t even begin to explain what this journey feels like. It’s heavy. It’s scary. And it’s something no family is ever truly prepared for.
But if there’s one thing I know about my dad…
he is a fighter.
Even now, with everything going on, he still gets up, still pushes forward, still tries to live his life with strength and dignity. You wouldn’t even know the battle inside his body by the way he keeps going. That’s just who he is.
Our relationship hasn’t always been easy. We’ve had years of distance, years of hurt… but this past year, life gave us something I will forever be grateful for — a second chance.
A chance to rebuild.
A chance to forgive.
A chance to love each other the way we should have all along.
And I’ll be honest…
There is nowhere else I would rather have him than right here with me, walking this journey together.
Right now, my dad is facing more than just cancer. He is trying to regain stability, secure his own place, and manage the everyday costs that come with simply surviving — all while fighting for his life. Transportation, medical needs, daily expenses… it adds up fast, and it’s overwhelming.
As someone who has always been the one to help others, asking for help is not easy for me… but this isn’t about me.
This is about my dad.
This is about giving him support, comfort, and dignity during one of the hardest fights of his life.
