About this fundraiser

Quick backstory .. Karleigh was born at 34 weeks with unilateral cleft lip and cleft palate affecting her soft palate. During her first cleft lip repair surgery the Drs discovered that she has laryngeal cleft also. This is a rare defect where there is a gap between the upper airway and the esophagus. which results in Karleigh aspirating and penetrating on liquid feeds by mouth. After 7 months of being on NG tube feeds, her GI team strongly recommend we have a Gtube placed as well as a procedure done on her stomach called nissen.

Forward to now, Karleigh has an upcoming procedure October 24th on her stomach called nissen. this is where they will 360 wrap the top of her stomach around the lower part of her esophagus. At the same time she will have her ng tube removed and a G-tube placed for feeds. The surgery will require us to stay in the hospital for a few days and to stay somewhere the night prior with the hospital being so far from us. any donations will help with a room down in Atlanta, transportation, cost of keeping Shawn home with us during recovery, food etc.
