Meet Jaxxon — my sweet, spunky, full-of-life, car-loving two-year-old boy. 💙
On March 2nd, my world turned upside down. Jaxxon was attacked by his father’s Great Dane/Shepherd mix. The attack happened over a piece of candy, and in seconds my baby suffered multiple deep lacerations to his face, narrowly missing his eye and neck.
Jaxxon required 12 stitches, along with three additional wounds that had to be closed with medical glue and strips. Shortly after, we were admitted to the children’s hospital where he is now receiving IV antibiotics, has started rabies vaccinations, and had to be put under anesthesia for a RIG (Rabies Immune Globulin) procedure. Doctors are also monitoring him closely and there is a possibility he may need additional surgery within the next week.
Watching my child lie in a hospital crib in pain is something no parent should ever have to experience.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time Jaxxon has been seriously hurt while in his father’s care. There have been four incidents that I am aware of, three of which resulted in hospital visits. The fourth I only learned about because his older child told me about it. Jaxxon was left unsupervised and fell down a flight of stairs while his father left the house to go to the store.
With this most recent attack, I also learned the dog is not vaccinated and has a history of aggressively attacking stray animals. Despite the seriousness of what happened, Jaxxon’s father has had very limited contact with the hospital and has not been cooperative with authorities regarding the dog.
As a mother, I am desperate to keep my child safe. CPS has been involved, but I feel like this situation is being brushed aside. The reality is that I may soon have to send my injured baby back into the same environment where he continues to be hurt.
My top priority is raising funds to hire a family attorney so I can fight to protect Jaxxon and advocate for his safety moving forward.
Any funds raised will also help with the unexpected financial burdens that have come with this traumatic situation, including:
• Medical expenses related to Jaxxon’s treatment and possible surgery Â
• Travel costs to and from the hospital and follow-up doctor appointments Â
• Food and daily necessities while staying at the hospital Â
• Any medical equipment or supplies he may need during recovery Â
• Potential therapy to help him heal physically and emotionally Â
• Lost wages while I am unable to work and stay by Jaxxon’s side during his hospitalization
I work full time and run a second business just to keep our heads above water, but this unexpected situation has placed an overwhelming financial strain on our family.
Asking for help is never easy for me, but when it comes to protecting my child, I will do whatever it takes.
If you feel moved to help, any donation — no matter the size — will go toward protecting Jaxxon, supporting his recovery, and helping me fight to give him the safe future he deserves. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page would mean the world to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read my son’s story and for supporting us during this incredibly difficult time. 💙
