About this fundraiser

Background:

Larry Ridle is a Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather that has recently been through tremendous hardship in a matter of weeks. Larry is 83 years old and has lived in Billings, MT for many years. He was married to his wife Georgia for 60 years and had two children with Georgia. Georgia was 89 years old and was in the late stages of dementia, Larry was her primary caretaker. Being the primary caretaker was no small task, but Larry wanted his wife to be able to live out her days in the home where they raised their children.

Recent Hardship:

In early February of 2023, Larry suffered from a heart attack while at home with Georgia. Larry was hospitalized for a week and was given a poor diagnosis. Larry’s daughter, son-in-law, grandson, granddaughter, and many friends stepped in to help take care of Georgia while Larry was in the hospital, as she could not be at home alone. After his hospital stay, Larry was released to return home. While his daughter and grandson were staying with them to help Larry recover, Larry’s daughter and grandson noticed that Georgia was having trouble breathing and walking. Two days after Larry returned home, they took Georgia to the emergency room at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings. There, they found that Georgia was suffering from Atrial Fibrillation, a Uniary Tract Infection, Sepsis, and a large cyst was discovered in her lungs. Though the outlook was grim, the family was hopeful that Georgia could be saved. Unfortunately, on Sunday, February 19th, 2023, Georgia passed away at the hospital. Larry has had an extremely difficult time dealing with losing his beloved wife. He misses her being at home and being able to take care of her.

Larry’s Surgery:

After the passing of Georgia, Larry then had to return to the hospital for heart surgery. Larry had to receive an Impella implant to help support his heart while they placed two stents in his heart. After a few days in the intensive care unit and the cardiac unit, Larry was able to return home. After the surgery, doctors performed an ultrasound on his heart, showing that the majority of the left side of his heart was shut down, with his heart function at around 19%. However, with medicine and physical therapy, doctors hope to get Larry’s heart function back up to 30-35%, thus prolonging his life to spend time with his daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

Larry’s Monetary Needs:

Even at the age of 83, Larry continues to work as a commercial real estate broker in Billings. However, the business has been sporadic in recent years, and in light of these recent medical and family events, Larry has been unable to work. With the loss of his wife Georgia, the social security administration has ended her portion of wages paid to Larry.

This has led to mounting medical bills and caused Larry to have difficulty dealing with basic living expenses.

Conclusion:

Larry hopes to return to his commercial real estate business soon, however, in the interim, since personal funds are depleted, he needs assistance in meeting basic expenses such as house and car payments, utilities, food, and medical expenses. As well as making repairs to the home to make it safe for Larry. Your support of Larry would be greatly appreciated. Larry and his family thank you for your consideration.
