Dear family and friends near and far. Thank you so much for your outpouring love and support during this difficult time. We are deeply saddened by the loss of our mother. Our family has created this memorial fund page for our dear family and friends that are not be able to attend our mother's memorial services in person and would like to make a donation towards funeral expenses or send their blessings. Thank you so much. 

Our beloved mother passed peacefully at home on Saturday May 27th, 2023. She was a wonderful person who touched the lives of those around her. 

Somkhoun Chhung, born October 6th, 1945 in Battambang, Cambodia, she was the second youngest of four siblings. In 1981, she immigrated to the United States with her four children as a single mother. Our mother was part for the most courageous generation that had to flee the war in Cambodia with nothing but the clothes on their backs so that their children may have a better opportunity in life. 

Our mother later met her husband David Pat in 1983 whom she adored and has spent over 40 wonderful years with. She made Lowell her home and later became a U.S. citizen in 2007. She was strong willed and fearless, quick witted, and had sharp sense of humor. Above all, she had an enormous heart, generous, loyal, and the most wonderful person you'll ever meet.

Our mother was loved and respected by her many friends and always enjoyed being with them especially for their card games on the weekends. You can always tell whenever she was with her friends from her infectious laughter. The thing she enjoyed most in life was spending time with her grandchildren. She had a large impact on their lives and loved caring for them. Some of the other things that she enjoyed were gardening, cooking, Sunday trips to the flea market, trips to Foxwoods and always dressing nice no matter the occasion. 

Mom was the strong matriarch of our family who always made sure we were taken care of. She will be remembered for all the love she shared with her family. She truly loved each and everyone one of us. Throughout life, she carried herself with dignity, strength, courage, grace, and full of love for her family and friends. She will be missed dearly.

She leaves behind her husband David Pat, she is survived by her three sons and their wives; Narong Chaunamom and Phal Ses of Lowell, MA, Narin Ma of Lowell, MA, Chip and Samantha Chaunamom of Dracut, MA, her daughter Nary Chumnan of Lowell, MA, her twelve grandchildren, and her ten great-grandchildren.
