Update (April 10th)
Mindy got released today and is at home resting. She will need to be on oxygen until the clots in her lungs get smaller or dissolve completely. Continued support and prayers are appreciated as she still has a long road of healing ahead of her.
Please Help Support Mindy’s Fight to Heal
On April 5th, our youngest sister, Mindy, went to the ER in Laramie after experiencing dizziness, lightheadedness, vision changes in her left eye, right arm and leg weakness and several falls. What we thought might be something minor quickly became something much more serious.
After testing, doctors discovered that Mindy has multiple blood clots—one in each lung (called pulmonary embolus), a clot in a major artery in her neck, and a large clot running the length of her left calf. These clots can be life-threatening, as they can block blood flow and oxygen throughout the body.
Her condition required immediate, advanced care. Mindy wasn’t stable enough to travel by ambulance, so she was life-flighted to Denver, where she is now receiving care.
At one point, she required very high levels of oxygen just to breathe. She is on a continuous blood thinner to help break down the clots and prevent new ones from forming. Doctors also placed a special filter to help stop any clots from traveling to her heart or lungs.
Doctors later confirmed our fears, she did suffer a stroke. While some tests have come back clear, others are still ongoing. In addition, doctors discovered a hole in her heart that will need to be repaired once she is strong enough.
While Mindy has shown incredible strength and is in good spirits, she has a long road ahead. She will remain in Denver for continued care and even after discharge, it is expected that she will be unable to return to work for a period of time.
We are so grateful for the care she is receiving and for the love and support surrounding her. If you’re able, we are asking for help to ease the financial burden of medical bills, travel, and time away from work.

Update (April 7th):
Mindy has made some encouraging progress—her oxygen needs have decreased significantly, and she has been moved out to a medical floor. A scan of her head showed no signs of a clot in her brain, though the clot in her neck is still present. We are still awaiting additional results regarding her lungs.
Thank you for standing with Mindy during this incredibly difficult time. ❤️
