About this fundraiser

Tuesday, December 9th our mom, Cindy, was admitted to the hospital with severe stomach pains. Her CT scan results showed a mass in her large intestine that is blocking her bowels. She was transferred from Multicare in Covington to Tacoma General for further evaluation and treatment. Friday December 12th, the doctors performed a colonoscopy and biopsy on the mass. They confirmed it was cancerous. She had another CT scan while at TGH which resulted in potential cancer in her liver as well. We will have further results on Monday. Since the mass is blocking her bowels, she was taken in for surgery on Saturday the 13th to prepare her for a colostomy bag. She will receive that and some training on Sunday. She’s still in the hospital and will be for at least a few more days.

UPDATE 12/16: Cindy has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer. There are a few spots on her liver that will need to be biopsied. But the cancer is treatable! She may be getting discharged from the hospital if she can hold down food.

My siblings, dad, and I want her to be well taken care of. Medically, emotionally, and most importantly financially. We can take care of the emotional support but we need help with the financial, as insurance will only cover so much.

She will have to go through chemo and radiation treatments in the coming months, which will likely make it difficult for her to continue working. We don’t want her to have to worry about ANYTHING, especially not bills. We want her to solely focus on resting and healing.

Adding stress to that regiment wouldn’t be prudent. Which is why we are reaching out to the community that has given so much of her life to, for help.

As most of you may know, Cindy has been a pillar in the Maple Valley community for over 30 years. She and my dad, Steven, were Vice President and President (respectively) of Maple Valley Days for as long as I can remember. Following that, Cindy took on a role as a Maple Valley Farmer‘s Market Manager and has been with them for many, many years as well. To know Maple Valley is to know Queen Cindy herself. She’s given more than half of her life to supporting the community and giving back any way she knows how. We’d love nothing more than for the community she’s given so much to, to rally behind her and lift her spirits.

All donations will be put into an account that Cindy and Steven can access to help pay for any treatments and bills that come their way.

We will continue to update as we gather more information from the doctors.
