Hello friends and family,

I regret to inform you that our beloved Monica Salas is going through the unbearable right now. After 6 months of pain and multiple ER Visits, scans and procedures, we were told Monica has late stage cancer. The decision was made to urgently move Monica to the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ. 

Currently, medical findings suggest Monica is suffering with a rare and aggressive form of carcinoma that is thought to have started in her appendix and has metastasized to several other areas of her body, notably the ovaries and her peritoneal space. The first phase of treatment involves surgically removing as much of the cancer as possible. 

On Wednesday Jan. 29, 2025 Monica is scheduled to have a full hysterectomy, partial bowel resection, and removal of additional tumors. She will stay in the hospital for about a week while she recovers. Her prognosis for recovery will come after pathology has tested all tissue that has been removed. Four to six weeks after surgery she will start chemotherapy to stop or slow the growth of the tumors that were not able to be surgically removed.

As you can imagine, this will be a complicated and long process of healing for Monica which will keep her out of work and normal life for an extended period of time. Monica, her husband Jesse, kids Jack (10) and Harrison (6), have temporarily relocated to Phoenix for her treatment. Their reduced income in addition to the medical treatment and all associated costs puts a huge strain on their family. Not only do they need our prayers and love, they could use financial support at this time as well.

If you know Monica, you know that she is strong, determined, and if anyone can fight this she can. She has taken care of others her whole life. Now it's our turn to take care of her.
