My mother has been diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism and hypercalcemia, necessitating the removal of a parathyroid gland to address the resultant high calcium levels. A benign tumor is present, and if left untreated, it may lead to cardiac complications or kidney stones. She was hospitalized a couple of months ago due to blurred vision in one eye, undergoing a week-long series of tests that ultimately revealed elevated calcium levels. A surgical procedure was scheduled for September 22; however, the hospital required a $6,000 upfront payment to proceed, which we are unable to provide. My mother applied for benefits, but her application was denied due to her employment income being sufficient to disqualify her. We are currently seeking to raise funds to facilitate her surgery and support her recovery.
