I am nearing 50 years old and I'm grateful for every moment of life. While circumstances that were out of my control very early in life such as childhood trauma, poverty, lack of guidance/role models, and undiagnosed mental illness led to being poorly equipped for adulthood, I have maintained my faith in God despite never having experienced a "normal" life outside of transience and loneliness. I am extremely thankful that I didn't end up in likely situations such as incarceration, addiction, or long-term hospitalization due to having strong personal moral values and having received compassionate attention from caring mental health professionals.

As I approach the midpoint of life, I am content and at a fork in the road. The last half of my life can either lead to finding what true recovery & happiness means to me (living in the community of my choice, having friends and purpose) or it can perpetually flatline until the end. I have some control over the outcome although not enough and that is why I am reaching out to all of you. Although this forum is designed for direct financial donations, throughout life I've discovered that even more valuable than money are simply good advice, open doors, a shoulder to cry on, opportunity, etc. I want this request to be highly transparent and personable by way of frequent updates, direct contact with donors, alternative ways to help that don't involve money, and continued contact after all the work, goals, and solutions have been achieved.

In the past, I had an unusual opportunity to go with a group to visit Southeast Asia. While there, I had a chance to experience the culture, religion, and meet new people. I made many friends. Even though there was much poverty & oppression, there was a sense of calm, community, and connection that resonated with me for years. My heart & soul is tugging me toward that place where my mind was finally clear. My wish and goal is to immigrate there and stay for the remaining time I have left here on Earth.
