I honestly don't even know where to begin with this one. Niko is more than just a cat, he is a family member with the spunkiest personality I've ever seen in a cat. Raised by two 100+ lb pitbulls as a kitten, he is the doggiest kitty I have ever met in my life. He has been through some of the hardest parts of my existence, and he has been here Dennis's whole life. It's almost safe to say that they could very well share a birthday, just a year apart with Niko of course being the year older.
I am not one to ever really ask for help, especially financially but without ranting on too much I have lost my job in November and my car broke just a couple weeks later and is going to be over $1,000 to fix. I took Niko into the emergency vet under the impression he'd had either sodium poisoning or the garlic/onion powder used on the Hibachi chicken he helped himself to this morning was wreaking havoc on his system when he started uncontrollably vomiting, excessively using the litter box, stumbling, and trying to hide.
I never thought that his love for food would be his saving grace, because the symptoms he was presenting ended up being from a blockage in his bladder. If I had waited until morning, he would no longer be with us. He is currently undergoing surgery to remove the blockage and will be spending the next 48 hours at the vet to ensure the blockage is no longer threatening his life. I can provide a picture of the estimate if requested, but this is going to run $3,100-$3,875 that I truly don't have but could not fathom euthanizing him and had a split second decision to make and I couldn't make the latter of the two.
His medical bills and well-being are not anybody else's responsibility but my own, I do not expect anybody to pay my moral responsibility as a pet owner. But if you are if at all able to contribute a little bit to ease the financial burden that sprung itself on us, I am forever grateful and of course harbor no hard feelings if you either don't want to or can't because you have your own obligations to tend to.
Thank you
