Hello, my name is Deborah (Debbie) Williams. Sufficed to say, this has been an extremely tough and challenging year. I am homeless (7/3/23), unemployed, and disabled. I find myself in the current situation due to no fault of my own. I am amongst the thousands of Federal Probationary Employees (illegally) terminated from my newly secured job with the Federal Government. Words will never fully express the sheer devastation I continue to feel. After working more than (25) years as a Federal Contractor, GOD finally answered my prayer in granting me a Human Resources Assistant (HRA) position with the United States Patent & Trade Office (USPTO). The agency is also one of the best within the Federal Government. I was also hired under Schedule A authority. Although there are many ongoing Court challenges regarding the merits of (our) terminations, the wheels of Justice continue to move slowly. Since being terminated twice, I have been on an exhaustive search for alternate employment to no avail. My experience as a Contractor, HRA/HRS, and Legal (Paralegal/Legal Asst) have led nowhere. It is frustrating and totally disheartening. The job market is extremely tight as so many talented people are vying for employment. Due to the job loss, my already dire circumstances continued to rapidly deteriorate. As such, and setting pride aside, I am bravely stepping out on faith that someone can and will be able to lend a hand to help me and my fur baby with some of our basic needs. Presently, I have depleted all my funds causing me to reach out for help until I receive my next disability payment. At the moment I'm trying to cover essentials like shelter, food, and a few other necessities while I continue to work to regain stability. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read my story. I believe better days are ahead, and every bit of kindness brings me closer to stability and peace of mind.
