About this fundraiser

Two acres. Three generations. One vision: nurturing the land and growing a legacy for the future.

In beautiful Sebastopol, Sonoma County, our family is working to create something meaningful: a thriving orchard and sustainable food forest where nature flourishes, nourishing food grows, and traditional skills are passed from one generation to the next.

Our vision is to transform our two acres into a diverse, productive landscape filled with fruit trees, berry bushes, edible plants, pollinator gardens, and healthy soil. We already have bees and chickens, and we’re building on that foundation to create a more interconnected, environmentally conscious homestead.

We believe that caring for the earth begins with understanding it, learning from it, and making thoughtful choices about how we live.

🌱 Growing a Healthier Relationship with the Land

Our family has invested in learning practical skills through classes in permaculture, fruit tree pruning, mushroom cultivation, cooking, and food preservation. These experiences have helped us better understand the connections between healthy soil, biodiversity, food production, and the natural cycles that sustain us.

Now, we want to put that knowledge into practice.

We envision an orchard that provides fresh fruit, a food forest that incorporates a variety of edible plants, and gardens that support pollinators and beneficial wildlife. We hope to improve soil health, conserve water, grow more of our own food, and work with nature rather than against it.

Our bees are an important part of our homestead, and our chickens contribute to our daily connection with the land. As we develop the orchard, we want to create a diverse landscape where plants, animals, and people can thrive together.

This isn’t about creating a perfect homestead overnight. It’s about learning, improving, and taking meaningful steps toward a more sustainable way of living.

🐝 An Investment in the Land

We’re raising funds to help establish our orchard and food forest.

Contributions will go toward:

  • Fruit and nut trees: Establishing the foundation of a productive, long-term orchard.
  • Berry bushes and edible perennials: Expanding the variety of food we can grow.
  • Healthy soil: Purchasing compost, mulch, and soil amendments to support plant growth.
  • Water conservation: Investing in appropriate irrigation supplies to help young trees and plants thrive.
  • Pollinator-friendly plants: Expanding habitat and food sources for bees and other beneficial insects.
  • Planting and protection supplies: Providing the materials needed to establish and protect our growing landscape.

Every contribution will help us turn this vision into something tangible.

Trees take time to mature, soil takes time to improve, and healthy ecosystems develop gradually. We see this project as a long-term investment in the land and the future generations who will care for it.

❤️ Three Generations, One Living Legacy

At the heart of this project is the opportunity to bring three generations together through a shared commitment to the land.

We want Grandpa, parents, and grandchildren to learn from one another, work side by side, and build something that will continue to give long after the first trees are planted.

We want the younger generation to understand where food comes from, how ecosystems work, and why caring for the natural world matters. We want them to experience the satisfaction of planting a tree, harvesting fruit, gathering eggs, observing bees, preparing food, and preserving the harvest for another season.

These are skills that connect us to generations who came before us—skills worth preserving and passing on.

Our hope is that this land will become a living classroom and a gathering place, where practical knowledge is shared, family traditions take root, and the value of caring for the earth is learned through experience.

An orchard is a beautiful reminder that we can plant something today without expecting to receive all its rewards ourselves. The trees we establish now may nourish our children, grandchildren, and generations beyond them.

That is the legacy we hope to grow.

🌎 Help Us Plant the Seeds of a Greener Future

We believe environmental stewardship doesn’t have to begin with grand gestures. It can begin with a tree, a handful of seeds, healthy soil, a garden, or a family learning to grow and preserve its own food.

By supporting this project, you’re helping us develop a landscape that values biodiversity, responsible food production, and a lasting connection to nature.

You’re also helping us create opportunities for three generations to learn, contribute, and share in the responsibility of caring for the land.

If you believe in protecting the natural world, preserving traditional skills, or building a more sustainable future for the next generation, we invite you to be part of our journey.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help us put down roots. If you’re unable to donate, sharing our campaign with others would mean just as much.

Thank you for helping us cultivate something that reaches beyond our own family—a living legacy rooted in the land, nurtured through knowledge, and grown for generations to come.

Let’s plant trees today that will nourish the world of tomorrow. 🌳
