About this fundraiser

On June 27th, my husband woke up early and complained of a headache. He vomited that morning and we thought it was just something he ate. That afternoon, he complained of “rib pain” but assured me he was ok and that he was actually feeling better. I laid down to take a nap and he sat beside me watching TV and held my hand as I fell asleep. When I woke up, he was laying across my legs, still holding my hand, his face purple. He wasn't breathing and he had no pulse. I did CPR until help arrived, but it was too late. The love of my life succumbed to a major heart attack.

David was only 53 years old. He was a big man, covered in tattoos, and rough around the edges, but he was secretly a softie. I have a progressive disease and he was there going through it with me. He washed my hair, helped me dress, cut my food into small bites. Anything that I couldn't do, he was there to help me. When we had a snowstorm, a neighbor that we do not know feel in the ditch getting her mail. David bought her a wall-mounted mailbox and installed it in the freezing cold so she would not have to walk to the road to get her mail. When a tornado knocked a large tree into the road in our neighborhood, he was the only one out there in the pouring rain at two in the morning. He cut the tree up and removed it so that people could get to work and school later that morning. He gave with a genuine heart and never took credit or the glory for doing it. It made me so incredibly proud to be his wife.

Because of my illness, I am on disability and have no other income. The total bill for David's cremation, state licenses, death certificate etc. is $3,000. I have already paid $500 of that and I bought his urn. I didn't realize that there are no options to finance. We had a small service, but the urn was empty. My husband laid in a refrigerator, waiting for me to get the funds to cremate him so that I can bring him home. I have $37 left of my check and will not get another check until the first. I simply cannot pay it. I have never had to ask people for money nor have I ever had to put my problems down for the public, but I am desperate and I will do anything to bring my husband's remains home. If you are reading this and can make any kind of donation, it would be so very appreciated. I need to get him back. Please help me.
