Hello, everyone. I'm going to cut this story straight to the point. I'm asking for financial help for a lawyer and also a vehicle.
Last July 27th, me and my sons' mother had to rush our 2-month-old to the ER after she had taken him to the pediatrician due to a believed milk allergy, the same our oldest boy (5) had at this age. He wasn't acting normal, puking up formula, etc. When we got to the hospital, we were bombarded by nurses, doctors, etc. At this point, our lives flipped upside down. But we didn't know it just yet.
A few days prior, we had, for the 2nd time, allowed a believed friend to watch our 2-month-old for a few hours. Unknown to us, this person is very dangerous to kids. We never suspected a thing. They ran through all tests, kept our baby a few days, and gave him a diagnosis of BESS syndrome (Benign Excess Fluid of the Subarachnoid Space). He was also diagnosed with being severely anemic and needing a blood transfusion.
After 3 days at Conemaugh, we were sent to Pittsburgh. As soon as we arrived, we were informed all three diagnoses were wrong. But, his head is growing significantly. (Our 5-year-old had this, just had a "big head" according to the pediatrician). Over the next 4 days, we were told our 2-month-old baby had been shaken. Not once, but twice. Speechless, heartbroken, lost as could be, we answered any and all questions honestly and told CYS everything we knew. But, in the end, until whoever did this was found, we were told, "you can't take your children home."
We came home, silent, with empty hearts and empty arms. We raised our boy for 5 years, and after an exam, it showed he'd never been abused. What happened to our newborn? We had no answer, no comfort. We returned home to an empty Paw Patrol bed, an empty crib, and their clothes/blankets still smelling like them. We slept with their blankets until their smell went away. We cried for weeks.
Now, 7, almost 8 months later, we're still fighting for our children back. We see them once a week, for 1 hour each, if lucky. Sometimes we can talk to them on the phone. Again, if lucky. We've missed the first day of Kindergarten, first crawl, firsts at school, etc., and we will miss the 1st birthday, maybe the 6th, first steps, etc. We still help with things for our boys, whatever they need. On top of bills, we make just enough to get by.
We would really like your help in hiring a good attorney to bring our baby boys home to us, where they belong. Any extra money will be spent on a much safer car for them, as we haven't had the finances to keep up with our current vehicle.
If you can spare anything, it's greatly appreciated. God bless you all. And I hope we don't have to miss anything else with our boys. They deserve so much better. Thank you for reading.
