Located on the corner of East TN, NC, and VA. We are the Carter Family (my husband Mike, my daughter Aniya, my son Phillip, and myself Nickole).
Our family just can't catch a break, but we are trying to keep the faith for whatever God has planned for us.
When it all began, our family had gone through an eviction for removing a battery from a fire alarm that led to losing custody of the kids. Then, after finally getting a place, Hurricane Helene damaged the rental place, and the landlord refused to get it fixed. Now homeless, trying to regain everything we lost while still fighting a custody battle to get the kids returned home.
My doctors agree on my diagnosis of FND because of trauma. I have an enlarged pituitary gland with a tumor compressing on my brain. I am in the long battle to fight to get disability instead of risking things getting worse by the impact of the daily seizures I have.
After some more recent traumatic events, my husband lost his job, so we have had to use the money saved up on covering the expense of the hotel we live in.
Thankfully, my husband is extremely ambitious and hardworking, so he has made the brave decision to join the Army. Although that means we won't have an income to cover expenses until he is officially in training, unless he begins a new job with the places he's applied.
I'm still fearful that we will be hurt/judged more by posting this, but things are only getting worse for us, and I was taught when you can't handle something to reach out in prayer and ask for help. My husband and I have said our prayers, giving it to God, and now we're reaching out for help from our community and the world.
The goal isn't an exact number; it's just adding up a few of the bills we have and the estimated costs it would be to get in a better situation.
