About this fundraiser

Ruth’s Transplant
August 7th 1982 we stood before our family and friends asking for their prayers and support as we heard the words, for better or worse, in sickness and in health, till death do you part the two of you are now one.

In March on 2019 those words took on a meaning like never before when Doc looked at us and said “you have stage four liver cirrhosis”.

The battle has been long and has taken its toll on every aspect of our lives. I can’t even begin to describe the impacts it has had on our lives, some good and some very challenging.

First and foremost we want to thank everyone who has supported us in prayer and actions over the past six plus years. There is no way we can express our deepest gratitude and love for you.

Now we come before you again to let you know Ruth’s liver transplant from a living donor has been scheduled for late October. Praise God!!! Once again we are asking for your prayers and support. We are asking for three things.

First, we are asking for your prayers. Prayers for Eddi, her donor and his wife who will be six months pregnant at the time of the surgery. Prayers for the surgical team as the perform what is referred to as a miracle surgery, and prayers for Ruth’s strength and recovery. Prayers do matter, I could go on for hours with living examples of how prayers have been answered in this endeavor.

Second, we are asking for your financial support to help cover the costs associated with this procedure. Thousands of people have said to us, let me know what I/we can do for you. To this point our answer has always been, pray for us. As hard as it is to ask there is now a second part to that answer. We need your financial support. This should not cost our donor a dime nor do they expect to receive anything for the incredible act of selflessness and sacrifice that they are willing to commit to.
There is no way to explain to you the far reaches of the financial impact this has had on our lives and the expenses that are not covered by insurance. I will only say, those of you that have experienced something like this know and we pray for you. Those who have not, we pray you never have to.
For those of you who can and are inspired to give you can do so here at Give A Hand.
For those of you who cannot, your prayers are appreciated.
Please know that any funds that are not used will be donated to further the education of non alcoholic liver cirrhosis.

Third we ask for you educate yourself and your family on the rise in liver disease. The statistics are staggering. It is no longer “the alcoholics”disease. If we can help save one person from getting this terrible disease our prayers will be answered.

Thank you and may God’s blessings be with you.
