About this fundraiser

My name is Jade Norwood and my mother is Luv Varner. She was a Uber driver for the Charleston area and has made a last impression on every person she's come into contact with. She underwent emergency surgery on June 10, 2024 for a bowel obstruction and the surgery went horribly wrong due to a mistake made by one of the surgeons resulting in her being hospitalized the first time for nearly a month. The hospitals solution was  to place two ostomy bags placed over the foot-long surgery wound on her stomach due to the fistulas that occurred during the surgical procedure. She also had a central line placed in her chest going directly to her heart for the IV liquid nutrition to take place of solid food. This is done 12 hrs a day and supposed to be taking place for about a year. About a week after she was sent home from the initial procedure she was readmitted into the hospital due to two blood clots forming in each side of her neck suspected to be caused from the central line for the IV TPN. On September 8, 2024 she was admitted once again and was informed she had developed yet another bowel obstruction. Luckily it was a partial obstruction that was able to be medically cleared. For the past 3 months she had spent every single day in agony. Her quality of life plummeted, and every aspect of normal life completely vanished. I would spend 2 hours sometimes every night other times every other night changing her punching system, doing wound care and tending to every need. We each felt as if every day was going to be the last day we spent with one another. I am thankful to say that today she is in considerably better condition and it is my mission to take her on the cruise she has been dreaming of going for the longest time. This whole situation made me realize to not ever take a single day for granted again because you don't know when it could be your last. December is goal for departure and I really really want to make this happen for her!
