My whole family has been living in a nightmare since my teenager was murdered. The whole experience has been unreal. After laying our child to rest, we focused on the trial of the accused. Thinking our family could get some closure and begin the healing process. But unfortunately everything got even worse, they only decided to charge one of the suspects involved. I sat through the whole trial, as difficult as it was. It seemed he would be charged, but ended up being found not guilty and walked free. The feeling was indescribable, and there’s nothing we could do. And the worst part of all is that they all live in my town and I myself have run into them on numerous occasions. And if I have to go out l, I have to worry about seeing them. It is like I am prisoner in my own little world. My other kids do not want to even go out anywhere, just so they can avoid running into them as well. It is literally like a never ending nightmare. The system has completely failed us. Due to all the expenses we incurred, I am not in the position to move my family away. I can’t even catch up on any of my bills. It’s an unbelievable struggle. Everyday I have to walk around and act positive and pretend everything is ok for my family. But it is not. And I spend my days trying to figure out how to get us out of debt so I can move forward and fix this. That’s all I need so my family can find some peace and start healing.
