On Thursday February 26th 2026 at 12:40 PM the Duty house was swarmed with firefighters, a house fire started while the family was not home, we are so incredibly thankful for this. Unfortunately, their 2 indoor cats were found inside and quickly taken to the ER Vet, once everything was not on fire any more the house was deemed uninhabitable.
They were able to grab some essential items like clothing and non-replaceable items, unfortunately a good majority of their items will not be savable or usable due to smoke damage.
The Duty family are currently staying with family until their house is repaired, so they have a safe place to be for the foreseeable future.
As we all know ER Vets are incredibly expensive, and they have 2 cats in the ER Vet's Oxygen kennels right now, They have already paid $14,000 in Emergency Vet bills and we're expecting to pay even more. 10 month old Orange Girl Leona was found unconscious and was revived by the firefighters on scene, she is not out of the woods just yet but she is showing remarkable improvement. She will be at the Vet for an indeterminate amount of time. 10 Year old Fluffy girl Minerva is out of the oxygen kennels but is on IV fluids, she will hopefully be coming home in the next few days.
All money donated will go towards:
> The MASSIVE Emergency Vet Bill
> Item Replacement not covered by insurance
> The MASSIVE Therapy bills to come for the family.
> All the food - they have to replace everything.
> Extra gas as they are now staying further away from school & work.
> Literally anything else they might need during this time.
We, their ever loving and supporting community, all have at least 1 story of how the Duty Family just magically showed up in our time of need in one way or another, some of us have quite a few stories.
So lets show them the community they've supported through decades of so, so much of our own personal hard times is right here with them, supporting the ever loving crap out of this amazing family who will and have happily given you their last dollar, the shirt off their back, their last piece of bread, whatever they have that you needed was and is always yours no questions asked.

Leona is home!!
Our 10 month old orange girl Leona has been released from the vet!
She was in the most critical condition of the two and made an incredible turn around, we knew she was a fighter but dang girl frickin get it!
Minerva is still at the vet with a nasty UTI, we’re hopeful she will be coming home tomorrow!
Thank you everyone who’s shared, donated, put whatever positive thoughts and vibes out into the universe for us!
We’re all so overwhelmed by just how amazing our tribe truly is.
