About this fundraiser

Friday, August 23rd, Beau was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called Osteosarcoma of the mandible. Because this type of cancer is so rare (0.06% of cases), the team at Emory is throwing the kitchen sink at him. During the next 12 months, Beau will undergo extremely potent chemotherapy, a mandibular resection (jaw removal then reconstruction using bone and tissue from his own leg), and then radiation. This will be an unbelievably long, painful, and draining journey for Beau and his family.

Beau and her incredible grandmother will be climbing this mountain while raising two fantastic young children and working full-time jobs.

So much of dealing with a diagnosis like this is the unknown and unexpected, and as the Johnson family travel down this path to healing, please help us put their minds at ease so Beau can focus on the only thing that matters: fighting for his life.

Beau is the hardest working man I've ever met. As a man of faith, he brings kindness, enthusiasm, patience, humor, and empathy to every situation, every conversation, and every interaction. He's the kind of man sorely needed in this world. Let's work together and make sure he stays around.
