It’s been an extremely difficult and overwhelming spring and summer for our family.
At the end of May, Kathy was suddenly admitted to the hospital for severe blood loss. We never received a clear answer as to what caused it, but things got so serious she had to be ambulanced from Neenah to Madison. She needed 14 units of blood in just 4 days—and a total of 18 units in one week. Her condition was so critical, we truly feared we were going to lose her. She spent 15 days in the hospital.
Just ten days after coming home, Kathy collapsed on the bedroom floor and couldn’t get up. Anthony had to call 911. She was rushed to Theda Clark and diagnosed with an extremely severe case of C. diff, a dangerous bacterial infection. Her symptoms were so intense that we once again feared she was having a stroke. She spent another 14 days in the hospital, quarantined, and remained on strong antibiotics until mid-August.
Then in July, Anthony began experiencing chest pain and went to the ER on July 11. He was admitted and told he had suffered six minor heart attacks. On July 17, he underwent a procedure to place four stents in his heart. Just when we thought we had made it through the worst—on July 26, Anthony suffered a stroke. He now has slurred speech and weakness in his face and right side and is facing a long road of recovery.
He is now unable to work and was told he likely won’t be able to return to self-employment until sometime in 2026. Anthony will need ongoing speech, occupational, and physical therapy through the end of the year—possibly longer.
Our savings ran out in August, and now we are depending on disability income alone. The medical bills are piling up. Your support would help us cover:
Medical expenses
Therapy and rehab costs
Living expenses (utilities, groceries, etc.)
Vehicle upkeep for travel to distant doctor appointments
Medical supplies and essentials we don't have on hand
If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, it will make a real difference for both of us. And if you're not able to give, we ask for your continued prayers, positive thoughts, and support.
If you have advice or ideas, please feel free to reach out privately. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for keeping us in your hearts during this incredibly challenging time.
With gratitude,
Kathy & Anthony
