This past fall, I began struggling with severe anemia and needed two iron infusions. Doctors suspected a slow internal bleed but couldn’t find the source. In December, scans revealed that my bladder was fused and stuck under my uterus. 2 years ago I was informed my uterus was infused to my abdominal wall. In January, after an ER visit, I was told I needed a hysterectomy and additional surgery to repair the fused organs and it was scheduled just days later.

During surgery, doctors found a small tear between my uterus and bladder, finally identifying the cause of the bleeding. I’m incredibly grateful the surgery was successful and the issue was repaired.

However, due to the short notice and not having employer benefits, I’ve been without pay during recovery and will be out of work for 8–10 weeks. At the same time, I recently separated from my husband and have been navigating the emotional and financial challenges of starting over.
