About this fundraiser

Julie has been battling Aspergilliosis leading to chronic respiratory failure since February 2023.  Her strength as she balances her business and the multitude of treatments and appointments that she needs to keep breathing has carried her to this point.

She has a fantastic team of doctors at The James in Columbus, Ohio who have guided her on this tightwire.  Despite everyone’s best efforts, the current treatments have started to take a toll, putting strain on her heart and making a new plan essential. Her medical team remains open and supportive of looking elsewhere, and Julie has found a renewed sense of hope in a treatment that, while not available in the U.S., offers a chance for healing she’s been longing for. This much-needed spark of hope is something that could complement the new plan her doctors will guide her through when she’s back.

They have identified a medical facility in Costa Rica that offers a stem cell transplant not currently available in the U.S. This targeted therapy is designed to act on her lungs, using stem cells that can support or replace damaged airway and alveolar cells, with the goal of regenerating injured tissue and improving lung function.  It is a 5 day protocol

Unfortunately, insurance will not cover the treatment or the necessary travel, making the cost a major challenge.

A goal of $18,000 is all that is needed to put this opportunity in motion with hopes of transplant by the end of February.  Any contribution amount will go directly toward medical and travel expenses
