I am desperately seeking help for my dog, Riot, who has endured unimaginable suffering. At just a year and a half old, Riot was severely neglected by her previous owner, locked in a cage for months, covered in her own waste. The neglect has left her with numerous health issues, including diarrhea scald and blood in her urine. She has hair loss in the affected areas and has developed what’s called "cauliflower skin”. The skin around her eyes, mouth, ears, and paws is red and irritable. Honestly, Riot is in constant discomfort and distress. Some days she doesn’t sleep or eat, and it breaks my heart to see her suffer like this. I am giving her medications and supplements every four hours, costing over $300 a month, and making all her food from scratch. We are consulting with three different veterinarians—her primary care vet, a holistic vet, and a dermatology specialist. Additionally, due to the trauma inflicted upon Riot by her previous owner, I have also dealt with the added stress of her behavioral issues. Not only is she unwell physically, but she is also fearful and antisocial. We’ve had three separate trainers, and I’ve purchased all kinds of books and gadgets to help ease her fear response. There have been days where I’ve felt incredibly defeated and considered rehoming her, but I’ll never forget when one of her trainer’s said, “Miranda, if you give up on this dog… she will not make it.” I am not giving up, I am determined to save her life. Since adopting Riot in January 2024, I have already paid thousands of dollars in exams, treatments, and training. As an Art Director who works in the film and television industry, the ongoing strikes have severely impacted my financial situation, making it nearly impossible to afford Riot’s care at this point. I am reaching out for support because I am at my wits' end, and Riot's condition is urgent. Your generosity could be the lifeline that Riot desperately needs.
