Veteran’s Fight: Help His Honors Student Son Walk Again

The Incident: A Future Put on Hold

In November, our lives were shattered. Ram B , a 20-year-old honors student at CSUN, was involved in a devastating motorcycle accident while returning home from his university classes. He is an exceptional young man who was carrying a demanding 18-credit course load and maintaining a bright future, doing everything in his power to succeed while supporting his family.

The Cycle of Hardship & Sacrifice

His father is a proud U.S. Army Veteran (80% disability) who served our country with honor but can no longer work due to service-related injuries and depression. To ensure his son could get to his university and work, the family saved every penny to buy him a used car. Tragically, the engine failed after just two months.

With no other way to maintain his education and job, the family took a desperate risk to get him a motorcycle for transportation. That necessity turned into a nightmare when he was struck during his commute—leading to the emergency operations that are still ongoing today.

The Ongoing Medical Battle

What began as an emergency surgery on his arm has spiraled into a grueling medical marathon:

  • The Secondary Crisis: A missed hip injury led to a massive, deep-seated infection. He underwent emergency surgery where a 7.5-inch incision had to be left open to heal from the inside out.
  • Current Complications: Due to the trauma, his heart rate remains dangerously high, preventing doctors from performing the additional major surgeries he desperately needs.
  • A Long Road Ahead: At just 20 years old, he remains completely bedridden and is expected to be unable to walk for at least the next five months.

A Note on a Family Pushed Beyond the Limit

This is a family of pride and service; they have never been ones to ask for help. But they have reached a point where there is nothing left to give.

For years, they quietly battled a difficult economy and the father's inability to work, eventually taking on over $200,000 in debt just to survive and keep their son in school. This latest medical emergency, with a single hospital bill reaching $107,000, is the "fire" that has burned them down—not just financially, but emotionally. They have given everything to this country and to their son’s education, and they can no longer walk this path alone.

How Your Support Helps

We are raising funds to directly cover:

  • Ongoing Emergency Operations: Procedures required to save his hip and his health.
  • Wound Care & Supplies: Essential medical vacuums and daily in-home nursing visits.
  • Rehabilitation: The long journey of physical therapy required for him to walk again.
  • Basic Survival: Helping this veteran’s household stay afloat while they focus on his recovery.

Every donation, no matter the size, is a lifeline. If you cannot give, please share this story. Your kindness is the light this family needs during their darkest hour.
