Help Me Rebuild My Mom's House—and My Future

My name is Lisa, and I'm asking for help rebuilding the home that means more to me than any other place in the world.

While I was battling addiction, I made mistakes that led me to jail and then rehab. I chose to fight for my life and work toward recovery. During that time, while I was away trying to become a better person, people took advantage of my situation and tried to take everything I owned—even though my mother's house was still legally in my name.

After a long fight, I finally got my house back. But when I walked through the doors for the first time in over two years, I was heartbroken. The home my father built and the home where my mother, Frances Curtis, created so many memories had been left in terrible condition. It had been damaged by people who didn't care about preserving what it meant to our family.

Today, I am over two years sober and committed to rebuilding my life one day at a time. I'm also receiving Social Security Disability, which means I simply do not have the financial resources to make the repairs this home desperately needs.

This isn't just about fixing a house. It's about restoring a piece of my family's history. It's about honoring my mom, Frances Curtis, who passed away while I was still trapped in addiction. I can't change the past or the fact that I wasn't the person I wanted to be when she died. But I can choose what I do now.

Rebuilding this house is my way of honoring her memory and showing how far recovery can take someone who refuses to give up.
