Our 12-year-old son, Damarkus, is scheduled for emergency enucleation surgery on July 8, 2026, to remove his eye. As parents, this is one of the most difficult challenges we have ever faced, but we are committed to making sure he receives the care and support he needs throughout his recovery.
Following surgery, Damarkus will need a prosthetic eye, which will cost approximately $3,000. In addition to this expense, our family is facing the costs of travel, medications, follow-up appointments, and lost income while his mother stays home from work to care for him during his healing process.
His surgery will take place at UMMC Madison in Canton, Mississippi. After recovery, he will begin the prosthetic eye process with Richard Abda in Kenner, Louisiana. His post-operative appointment is scheduled approximately six weeks after surgery, and all prosthetic-related expenses must be paid before the process can begin.
We are hoping to raise the necessary funds by July 29, or no later than August 12, 2026.
