This year has been beyond crazy, starting in February with my bone marrow biopsy. Then 4 weeks later, I had Cervical Artificial Disc Replacement (neck surgery), Now, 6 months post-op from the neck surgery puts me two and a half weeks out from a lumbar fusion (L4-L5). I’ve been working with 3 specialists for my pain management due to my service connected injuries. Honestly thought I would have had back surgery over a decade ago while I was active duty but here we are.

I work (2) part-time jobs, both of which I truly enjoy. However, working part-time makes me ineligible for FMLA, PTO, and sick leave. I will struggle to pay bills with being out of work for another 4-6 weeks this year. I got blessed/lucky the first time as I was in the middle of buying my house and I was able to not have a rent/mortgage payment for one month.
