Bill Gunter's Cancer Journey

Before anything else, we want to say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who has prayed for Bill and Carol, encouraged them, checked on them, brought meals, helped with practical needs, given financially, and continued to walk alongside them throughout this difficult journey. There are no words to fully express how much your love and support have meant to them and their family. Every prayer, every kindness, and every word of encouragement has mattered.

For more than a year, so many of you have helped carry Bill and Carol through the many challenges of this cancer journey. After a year of treatments, travel, hospital stays, and countless unexpected expenses, they have now reached one of the most difficult and financially demanding stages.

Bill is facing a massive and extremely complicated surgery at MD Anderson in Houston. His surgery will be extensive, but we know we serve a God who is the Great Physician. We are praying for God to carry Bill, his doctors, and every person involved in his care through this surgery. We are incredibly thankful that Bill has access to the expertise and care at MD Anderson.

Bill is expected to spend at least two weeks in the hospital, followed by required recovery in Houston. Altogether, Bill and Carol anticipate being in Houston for more than five weeks for surgery, hospitalization, and recovery. The travel, lodging, meals, and other expenses associated with this extended stay will be substantial.

Cancer is a long and incredibly expensive battle.

The generous gifts many of you have given have helped them through the past year; covering travel to and from MD Anderson, lodging, medical necessities, and many unexpected expenses. After a year of this journey, those resources have now been depleted.

Bill and Carol have always been incredibly reluctant to ask for help. They never want anyone to feel obligated to give, and accepting financial support is still very difficult for them. But as this journey continues, the need has become greater.
