Help Mark Heal: Support for an EMS Hero’s Recovery

For years, Mark was the person who showed up on someone’s worst day. As an EMT, he dedicated his life to being the calm in the storm, providing life-saving care and comfort to strangers in their most vulnerable moments. Mark didn't just see his job as a career; he saw it as a calling. However, the years of high-stakes environments and cumulative traumatic events eventually took a heavy toll.

Mark is now facing his own private battle. The severity of his PTSD has manifested in profound mental, emotional, and physical ways, including significant memory challenges that have made daily life a struggle. Because of the intensity of these symptoms, Mark had to make the heart-wrenching decision to leave the EMS world behind. While he is no longer on the front lines saving others, he is now in the fight of his life to reclaim his own health and peace of mind.

Mark is doing everything he can to stay productive, but the reality of his recovery is difficult. He has transitioned to a different profession outside of EMS, but the change has come with a much lower salary. Furthermore, the road to healing is paved with constant specialist appointments, therapy sessions, and medical evaluations. Because of this necessary care, Mark misses a significant amount of work, causing his already reduced income to fluctuate even more.

In the middle of these difficult days, Mark has two faithful companions by his side—Jack and Jasper, our two Collies. They have become his unofficial support system, providing the quiet grounding and companionship he needs when the PTSD and memory challenges feel overwhelming. Jack and Jasper aren't just pets; they are a vital part of Mark’s healing environment, offering comfort in the moments when words aren't enough.

While Mark focuses on his recovery, I have stepped up to carry the weight of the household, working two jobs just to keep our heads above water. Despite these long hours and tireless efforts, the combination of lost income and rising medical costs has created a gap that hard work alone cannot bridge. We have reached a point where we can no longer do this without a community of support.

Your donations will go directly toward:

  • Medical & Therapy Bills: Covering the costs of specialized PTSD treatments and memory support care that insurance doesn't fully reach.
  • Essential Living Expenses: Bridging the gap from missed work hours to ensure there is food on the table and utilities are paid.
  • Recovery Resources: Assisting with any medications or rehabilitative tools Mark needs as he navigates his symptoms.

Mark has spent his life giving his hands and his heart to his community. Now, it is our turn to lend a hand to him. Whether you can give $5 or $500, every bit of support provides a "breath of air" and allows Mark to focus on therapy without the crushing weight of financial ruin.

If you aren't able to donate at this time, please consider sharing this page with your network. Spreading the word is just as valuable as a donation. Thank you for standing by Mark as he works toward a life of healing and recovery.

How You Can Help
We know that times are lean for many, and we are incredibly grateful for any level of support you can provide. Your donation—no matter the size—is a direct investment in Mark’s health and our family’s stability. It ensures Mark can attend every necessary appointment and that we can keep food on the table while he fights to overcome the effects of his years in service.
